The Name
Marqami —
a place of inscription.
From the classical Arabic root ر · ق · م (raqama) — to mark, to number, to inscribe upon a surface so that it endures. Marqam is the place where the mark is made.
IntentionWe chose the name because every Marqami edition is, quite literally, an inscription — pigment pressed into cotton, numbered by hand, signed by its maker. A room with a Marqami in it becomes its own marqam.
PromiseLimited. Numbered. Archival for a century. The mark, once made, is kept.
